As your Washington, DC maternity photographer, I love getting to serve my clients across the entire DMV. But I also love to travel and explore. Like the rest of the world, my travel plans have been challenged a bit with lingering quarantine requirements. Rather than a trip abroad this summer, I chose to spend a few weeks in Alaska. I did plenty of hiking, fishing, and panning for gold, but also had the opportunity to do a little work.
I had so much fun meeting this sweet family and documenting them together. These last few days before baby is here can be so special. While there’s often a rush to put together the crib and finish the nursery, I love when couples find an evening to spend together. We almost called off this session due to heavy thunderstorms, but in the end decided to just go with it. There was some heavy fog and lots of drizzle, but we just missed the downpour. These two laughed through it all. Which really, could there be a better way to prepare for parenthood? Despite all the plans, most of the time you just have to wing it and hopefully laugh on the other side!
We met for this session in Hatcher Pass, Alaska. Though there was still snow at slightly higher elevation, it had already melted along the trail. This location was just perfect for a maternity session. I love the fresh green of new life set against the still snowy mountains.
Mom had to do this session in her rainboots! But what fabulous rainboots they are!
I just love the confidence and grace this mother shows as she walks along the trails here in Hatcher Pass.
I would love to help you document your own family’s story. If you would like more information about a session with me, I’d love to invite you to send a little note my way here.
