As your Northern Virginia newborn photographer, I absolutely love watching your babies grow up – and watching you grow as a mother right along with them. I’ve documented this mama’s connection with her baby over the past year and it has been such a joy. I was thrilled to get to see her with both of her boys for a fun evening at Virginia Beach.

I generally have a rule that we don’t hold sessions on the beach if the wind is above 10mph. There’s just too much blowing sand and surf for little ones to have a good time. But in this case, mama and I had already made the drive down from Northern Virginia and we didn’t have time to adjust. On top of 20 mph winds, the area was experiencing coastal flooding. So while we envisioned a day at the beach, there was hardly any beach available – just a tiny strip of sand. But we made the best of it and I just love every one of these photographs!
