It is such an honor to be invited into your house to document your baby’s first few days in their first home. I know this is a sacred time and place for families. As your Washington, DC newborn photographer, I do not take the trust you place in me lightly. Very often, I’m the first visitor you’ve let into your lives once you’ve returned from the hospital.

Our time together is spent quietly. You’ll peacefully and naturally connect with each other. It’s always magical to see your family settle into itself. Older siblings might be somewhat tentative, but oh my goodness, what a gift for them to have this special relationship documented from the very beginning.

Choosing to document your newborn session in your home is a decision to not just preserve the details of your tiny baby, but also create a snapshot of his story. One day he’ll be moved to tears as he looks through the images we create together. He’ll see how tiny he was laying on his parents’ bed. Your family will see each other living and loving in your own space.

Baby laying in his crib is one of my favorite photographs to create for families. I can’t help but think about this little guy sharing these photographs with his own children one day. His own children will be so surprised to see Daddy sleeping in his own crib.
