As a Munich engagement photographer, couples often ask me what they should bring along to their engagement session. While there are so many options to truly add style to your photographs (include your car, sunglasses, a gorgeous sun hat, etc), there are 3 that I think are pretty special. Of course, you don’t need to have any of these, but you’ll always find them on my list of “What to Pack!” for your engagement session.
For many people, their engagement ring is the symbol of this newest step in their relationship. Though not all couples follow this tradition, for those who do, it’s a beautiful detail that we can include in your session. If you received a pretty little box along with the ring, I always suggest bringing it as well. I always try to document your ring organically on your hand, but sometimes it’s nice to have a simple, minimal photograph of such a special symbol.
Whether it’s a miniature version of your bridal bouquet or simply a handful of wildflowers from the side of the road, adding some floral details can add such a soft, feminine touch to your session. Some couples love using this as an opportunity to start working with their florist. It’s a great way to open up communication about what you’ll like to have on your wedding day. Something to remember, most fresh flowers tend to wilt fairly quickly, especially on a hot summer day. So if you are planning on incorporating florals, either pick them on the spot, or keep them hydrated until it’s time to use them.
This is one of my favorite accessories! You two are celebrating one of the most important milestones of your lives – pop that cork and share a toast! These photographs also make perfect images for a Save-the-Date card! Don’t forget to bring along some pretty glasses – these coupes are totally on trend now and really sparkle in the sun. Of course, make sure this is appropriate for the venue you’re photographing in and clean up any mess.
While I absolutely love every one of these accessories, as your Munich engagement photographer, I also think you don’t need any props at all. Don’t feel pressured to go out and source any of these items, but if you’re excited to start planning and want to go all out – I say go for it!
I would love to help you document your own engagement story. If you would like more information about a session with me, I’d love to invite you to send a little note my way here.
