As a maternity and newborn photographer, it is so much fun to watch your babies grow up as you grow into parenthood. I met this family last fall when they were still expecting, so it was a special treat to get to connect again to create these beautiful Stuttgart family photographs.

I had the best time with them at their maternity session in Iceland last fall. We explored the land of fire and ice and marveled at the waterfalls and moss covered lava fields. We chatted about how pregnancy was going and could only wonder about the little life they would meet in a few months. I felt so honored to be asked to document this darling girl’s 6-month milestone. She is the most beautiful little thing and is going to have such an adventurous life.

While I often travel for sessions, these Stuttgart family photographs were documented just a few minutes away from home. I know this family is going to continue to travel and explore with their girl in tow, but I love that she’ll love having photographs of her life growing up in Germany.

Though I love documenting the whole scene, I always try to create some quiet space for mom and baby to interact. I love seeing these details – the way baby sits so comfortably on mom’s lap, those tiny little fingers, and the way mom’s hands are always there to comfort and provide security for her little one.
