As your Germany portrait photographer, I love meeting you in locations around the world to document the big and small milestones in your life. While I will always encourage you to choose a location that is significant to you, if you need a little inspiration, I’m sharing a few locations that work well.
Note that locations further than a 1-hour drive from the Stuttgart area do require a travel fee. Travel sessions that require an overnight stay come with a few extra perks for you, so just reach out when you’re ready to work out the details, but don’t delay because my schedule books up a few months in advance!
You’ll find lots of ruins in the area. Many of them require some hiking – and I’m more than happy to join you on a trek if you choose a location that’s a bit off the path, but I’m not including those sites here. The locations I’m sharing are very easy to access which make them an option for families with young children and/or expectant women.
I love the ruins out near Oppenheim. They have beautiful light stone walls, you get a lovely view of the church, and in the summer/fall the vineyards are stunning.
The old abbey in Calw is beautiful. It’s pink stone facade is truly gorgeous!
These abbey ruins are in the Black Forest and can be absolutely stunning – especially with some fresh snow! Be prepared for a bit of a curvy road on the way in – something to think about if you’re pregnant or bringing young children.
Heidelberg is one of everyone’s favorites cities in Germany. The bridge with a view of the castle makes for the perfect setting for a sunrise session.
The Bebenhausen monastary is a popular location for photo sessions in the immediate Stuttgart area. There’s no denying it’s cute and convenient, but my personal (and professional!) opinion is that the color of the walls is too yellow/mustard and doesn’t photograph as beautifully as some of the other options you have.
While Germany has an abundance of gorgeous scenery, if you’re local to Stuttgart, you will want to be willing to commit to heading out of town a bit to get some of those views.
Whether you stay in Germany or head to one of the neighboring countries, the Alps will always make a stunning backdrop in summer or in winter!
I love letting families with young children run and explore in an open field! I’ve found a field that works beautifully for sessions, about 30 minutes outside of Stuttgart. Sessions here must be held on weeknights because it’s a very popular place for picnics on the weekend. If you require a weekend, a session here would need to be at sunrise. I can’t guarantee sheep – but sometimes they’re unpaid actors in session out here.
One of the most gorgeous lakes! The beautiful blue water surrounded by the Alps makes the most stunning backdrop. Sessions here take place just after sunrise.
Germany isn’t known for its beaches, but if you’re willing to make an overnight trip, the beaches in The Netherlands have the most stunning sand dunes! I couldn’t recommend them more! Sunset here is magical!
Once you get out of the immediate Stuttgart area, you can find some quite walking trails with lovely views. They’re especially gorgeous in the fall as the leaves start to show off their colors.
There are many reasons for an indoor session – maybe it’s too cold, maybe it’s too hot. Maybe you want to have a more intimate session and doing it inside makes more sense. Or maybe you just like the vibe we can create indoors. I love working in my studio space, your home, or any indoor location you choose.
Soft light, access to my studio wardrobe, and a quiet space. All make for the perfect setting for an intimate maternity session.
You can truly feel comfortable with a session in your own home. It’s such a special gift to yourselves to document just a little bit of life before your home is filled with one more little love.
I love to travel for my clients! Tell me where and I’ll meet you! If you’re hoping for a babymoon outside of the local Stuttgart area and need some ideas, here are some of my favorites!
A destination in and of itself. Lake Como is such a wonderful experience. Add in a photo session at your favorite villa and top off the night with a stunning boat ride.
The most magical country with jaw-dropping scenery!
If you’re into fashion – put Copenhagen on your list!
The canals and row homes are iconic – add in a few tulips and you have a perfect babymoon session!
Filled with the most welcoming and kind people, a trip to Ireland means stunning coastlines and hillsides dotted with sheep and the occasional castle. It’s a treat of a destination!
