It was such an honor to get to capture this family’s maternity session at Colvin Run Mill as their Washington DC maternity photographer! Would you believe that this mama is pregnant with her 7th child?! She is so full of grace and ease! As we planned this session, we decided to include their youngest, Heavenly Joy, to capture these last few days that she is the baby of the family before her promotion to Big Sister.

I’m sure we could all learn a lot from a mother as experienced as Victoria, including, in her words, that “each child is created full of destiny and purpose.” It is such a joyful time when you are carrying your baby and wondering who he will become. What will he dream of and what will frighten him? Who will inspire him? How will he leave his mark on the people who know him?

Documenting your pregnancy is such a beautiful way to honor your family as it is – whether it’s your first or your seventh. A maternity session is also such a beautiful way to celebrate the new person you are bringing to the world. I can’t imagine what a joy it will be for this little boy to one day look back at these photographs. He will see his mother and father and big sister waiting for him. He will know how loved he was frm the very beginning.

We had so much fun walking the grounds at Colvin Run Mill in the late summer. I just love how the blue and yellow of Victorias’s wardrobe look against all of the green.
