There are countless fairytale villages and impressive castles all over Germany, but certainly one destination that can’t be missed is the beautiful and historic city of Heidelberg. This little family just moved to Germany and I was so happy to get to meet them and celebrate their pregnancy with a stunning Heidelberg maternity session.

We started out on the old bridge and enjoyed the stunning views of the Neckar River. Heidelberg is a tourist city, so even in the winter, we spent lots of time avoiding the tourists who were enjoying taking picture of their own. In that down time, I loved getting to hear about Julia’s work. She’s a fellow creative and business owner who creates grazing tables and provides all kinds of tips for hosting. So now I’m trying to come up with an excuse for her to put together an event for all my sweet new clients here in Germany!

Once we finished up on the bridge, we made our way to the castle grounds. And while it is a bit of an uphill hike, for this Heidelberg maternity session, we chose to take the funicular up to the top. We made a quick pit stop for a pretzel and water at the cafe and then headed off to explore the castle. I just love the pink and orange tones in the sandstone.

After saying goodbye, I stopped for lunch in the old town area at a wonderful restaurant for some filling käsespätzle. The perfect way to warm up after a fun, chilly morning!
