There are so many beautiful locations to choose for your maternity session in the DMV area, but the perfect setting will be one that is meaningful to you. As a Washington, DC maternity photographer, I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve had a couple choose the US Capitol as the setting for their session. I am so glad they did! What a stunning backdrop! This couple was engaged on the Capitol grounds, and I just love that they wanted to document this sweet stage of life here.

The morning brought the most beautiful sunrise, but what you can’t see is that there was a windchill of 11 degrees. I tried to talk them into rescheduling, but they had tight schedules and were determined to make it work. And so we did! Our pockets were filled with handwarmers, we wrapped mama in blankets, and had a thermos of a warm drink to warm up from the inside. Mama was so brave and tough. And it was absolutely heartwarming to watch her husband take care of her. What a lucky little one to get to call these two Mama and Daddy!
