As a Washington DC maternity photographer, the late winter/early spring months can be quite challenging for outdoor sessions. This family originally scheduled their session for late February. Unfortunately, the DC area was hit was a fantastic ice storm so we had to reschedule. We took a guess and selected a date in early March. We really lucked out! It was the warmest day of the year by far!

This family and I headed out to Middleburg, Virginia to the beautiful property at Goodstone Inn and Restaurant so they could enjoy a few days of peace and quiet. The beautiful rolling hills of the farm and garden setting of the inn made for the perfect backdrop. Though it was warm, it was also quite windy. But honestly, I just love movement and life the wind adds!

The sun moved in and out of the clouds as we made our way from the inn to the garden. I love the soft green color of the inn – especially as the trees had not yet turned green! As we moved out to the field, the clouds parted and we had full sun for the last few minutes of this session. This session was such a beautiful celebration of life and hope for the future adventures they’ll take together as a family of four!
