As your Washington, DC maternity photographer, I am often asked for suggestions for locations for your maternity session. The National Arboretum is always a favorite! It has the perfect mix of DC vibe with the historic US Capitol Columns, but has has beautiful landscaping and views.

This session was held in early August, and if you’re local to the DMV, you know the heat and humidity can be stifling. If your maternity session falls in the summer, I’ll always suggest considering a sunrise session to try to avoid the heat of the day. This couple followed my lead and chose to meet at the Capitol Columns at sunrise. It was definitely the right call! We spent the morning together and finished up just before it got too hot. I think it makes for the perfect morning! You get a little bit of quality time together and then off to a delicious brunch to celebrate!
