This mother reached out to me well over a year ago to document an anniversary session for her and her husband. As a wonderful surprise, that anniversary session turned out to be a pregnancy announcement session. As their Vienna, Virginia newborn photographer, I was lucky enough to get to know this family over the following months as we documented their maternity, welcomed baby at her newborn session, snuggled during her 6-month milestone, and finally met to celebrate her first birthday.

Getting to witness your journey into motherhood/parenthood is such an honor. From those early days of hope and wonder, to the humbling newborn days, to finding some confidence by 6 months, and finally that bittersweet 1-year mark, that first year is absolutely overflowing with emotion. I am so thrilled to create artwork for you – and of you – that documents your journey.

I always hope that the photographs we create together are special on the day you first see them, but my hope is that they will become priceless pieces of your history as your family continues to grow and change. It won’t be too long until this little one lets go of her mama’s hand and bravely climbs the steps on the big yellow school bus and waves goodbye. I hope these photographs will forever bring tears and laughter, comfort and longing.
