The Kennedy Center is one of the most stunning locations I get to take my clients as their Arlington, Virginia maternity photographer. The wispy branches of the willow trees set against the white and gold of the building structure creates a modern and neutral backdrop. I love that my clients get to document their family’s milestones at such iconic settings.

I was lucky enough to get to know this family when Mom was expecting her first son. We documented her maternity and newborn session together and then both of our families moved around the world. I was thrilled to find out we were both in the Washington, DC area when she contacted me to tell me she was expected her second!

While your maternity session the second time around might be a little bit more active than the first, it’s such a special way to celebrate this phase for your family. In just a few short months your oldest will no longer be your only. You will all be changed so much as you get to meet and welcome your new little person. Of course this transition comes with challeges for parents, but my goodness, what a big change for your toddler! I love knowing that one day those older siblings will have photographs like these to look back on – when he/she was the only one, waiting to meet that little person Mom and Dad have talked so much about!
