I was not expecting the message from mama saying that little Baby O had arrived – it was 3 weeks before he was due! But, as your Washington DC newborn photographer, I know that babies are unpredicatable little people. This little guy was here and he was healthy and perfect!

We documented this family’s maternity session in January at the beautiful greenhouse at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens, in Leesburg, Virginia. That session was also featured over on the Motherhood Anthology’s blog, which you can see here.

Mama chose to have his newborn session in their home. I always think it’s so special to document a baby’s first few days in his first home. These photographs will one day tell his story – to him, and to his children and grandchildren. One day he’ll look at these and see how full of love his home was. He’ll see his big brother just starting to welcome him into his life. What a special relationship that will become, and what a treasure to have those first uncertain days documented forever. He’ll see his parents’ faces, young, and in love with him. He’ll get to share these with his children, who’ll see their grandparents from a different perspective. Truly, these photographs are a gift for generations to come.

This mama has such impeccable taste, doesn’t she? She has so lovingly decorated their home with sweet details and fresh flowers. Just one more piece of this little’s story.

Big brother was such a good helper! He made sure to get lots of angles that I couldn’t reach!
