As a maternity photographer serving the Virginia and Washington, DC area, I look forward to winter sessions all year! I’m always excited about the possibility of documenting a maternity session in the snow. This mama was also crossing her fingers that we would have a pretty snowfall during the time surrounding her maternity session. The forecast was looking promising, until all of a sudden it wasn’t. This just wasn’t the year – we had lots of ice, just unfortuantely very little snow.

This is one of the reasons I’m so happy I have a beautiful (and warm!) studio space. Not only is it perfect for newborn sessions, but it makes for a lovely, timeless space in which to document your maternity. You’ll stay warm and have easy access to the studio wardrobe. Some mamas specifically choose the classic, timeless, minimal look of a studio session. Other choose it as a backup in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. I also offer an add-on intimate maternity session option, so some mamas choose both!

This mama is absolutely stunning in both dresses she chose to wear. I can’t wait to see them again in a few short weeks to meet their little boy!
